Welcome to the Animal Welfare Blog (Hope and Joy Network - Great Mystery Publishing) for 2016! This post will cover the whole of 2016, one enormous post we will keep adding to until 31st December 2016.
Please check out our posts for 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 too which contain numerous current animal welfare issues, photographs, videos, and articles.
Thank you for visiting our blog! As you have probably discovered, there are many blogs that promote themselves as "Animal Welfare" , but are actually fronts for organizations and companies who profit from cruelty and exploitation of animals; however our blog is genuine in its promotion of kindness and compassion to all animals. If you have any animal welfare related comments or suggestions, please leave them in the comment section below. We would love to read them!

New Zealand's dairy industry exposed: days-old baby calves being ripped from their mothers, and treated with horrendous cruelty. This new undercover footage by Farmwatch & SAFE is just beyond words. Please share so people will know the truth.
Cows are pregnant for nine months, before enduring a difficult, painful labour to give birth to their little ones. Their babies are taken from their mothers a few hours after birth, sometimes a few days after delivery. Their babies are taken away so the mother cow's milk (and dairy products produced from their milk, such as cheese, butter, ice-cream, and yoghurt) can be consumed by humans. The babies are sent to slaughter for veal. The treatment of baby cows in this video is pretty commonplace in the dairy industry all over the world. In order to produce milk, and other dairy products for humans, cows must be continually pregnant or lactating. The mother cows are not allowed to keep their babies because the milk would then be used to feed their young ones, so the babies are killed and we get their milk. For things to change we must learn what is actually going on in our world, especially caused by our own choices and actions. Ignorance is not bliss if innocent animals suffer due to our ignorance. We need to take our blinkers off in order to create a kinder world.

Taiji Dolphin fighting to jump net to avoid being slaughtered by divers 2015-12-21 9 15am
Above and below: What happens to Tajii dolphins. This needs to be stopped NOW!
This dolphin committed suicide because her family just got slaughtered.

The most sensible, as well as humane, use of available land resources.
Nearly all humankind's greatest thinkers were either vegetarians or vegans. So much for meat being brain food!
The horror which is the fur industry!
No kind, humane, or civilized person would ever wear fur.
One of the ways animals are killed for fur. This fox struggles to try to save its life; it dies being electrocuted via its anus.
Animals raised for fur, suffer unspeakable cruelty during their lives, then finally suffer the most horrendously barbaric methods of death, simply so some humans may wrap themselves up in vanity, believing their viciously stolen skins show they have "made it", when it simply tells the world, this is a cruel and callous person, who has no fashion sense beyond the cavemen.
Above, a poor animal, violently and tragically murdered via electrocution for its fur.
How can anyone be proud to wear something that was gained by such immense horror and cruelty?!
The hardship and abuse suffered by the working animal, like these poor mine donkeys working in hazardous conditions until their subsequent deaths.
Baby pig kissing her mother, comforting her through the bars.
Whether you are an atheist or a member of a religion, we can all agree the above sign is a great one! :)
Nothing is as beautiful as compassion.
